Specialty building materials distributor US LBM acquired Erlanger, Ky.-based Forge Lumber, a two-unit building materials supplier and construction subcontractor. The acquisition of Forge Lumber, which operates locations in Erlanger and Cincinnati, Ohio, expands US LBM’s presence in the Midwest, which includes K-I Lumber & Building Materials and its locations in Kentucky and Indiana.
Forge Lumber operates a full-service mill, manufacturing pre-assembled doors and custom stairs, and a floor and roof manufacturing plant in Kentucky and a building materials distribution center in Ohio. Forge also provides turnkey installations and construction labor services to residential and commercial builders in its footprint. President John Steinman will continue in his current role with Forge Lumber after the closing of the deal.
“Forge’s strong team, market leadership, manufacturing operations, and location make it a great addition to our portfolio,” said US LBM President and CEO L.T. Gibson. “The company’s capabilities and footprint complement our existing division in the region, K-I, and put us in a prime position to serve growing markets in Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio.”
Buffalo Grove, Ill.-based US LBM ranked 6th on the 2019 ProSales 100 and operates more than 250 locations nationwide. The specialty distributor previously acquired Baily Lumber & Supply and BM Windows in April.
