Beacon Roofing Supply announced Thursday the retirement of executive vice president and chief financial officer David Grace, effective January 1, 2013, due to health reasons. The company has not yet named a successor.

“Throughout his 25-plus years of service to Beacon, Dave has been a key part of the company’s tremendous growth and success, including the completion of our 2004 IPO, a secondary offering in 2005, and many debt financings and acquisitions,” company president and CEO Paul Isabella said in a statement. “He has built strong finance and IT teams and a disciplined financial culture that will serve the company well in the years ahead.’

Grace joined the Peabody, Mass.-based roofing-products distributor’s sales division as an accountant in 1987 and was named the company’s CFO in 1997 after serving in a series of positions with increased leadership capacity. He was promoted to executive vice president in January 2011. Grace earned a degree in accounting from Bentley College, in Waltham, Mass., and began his career as a certified public accountant with Baril and Smith CPA in Lynnfield, Mass., before joining Beacon.
