Beacon Names Samuel Guzman Chief Accounting Officer

Guzman most recently served as the chief accounting officer at Liquidity Services.

Building products distributor Beacon appointed Samuel Guzman, Jr. as the company’s vice president and chief accounting officer, effective immediately. In the role, Guzman assumes leadership of Beacon’s accounting organization and will oversee all the company’s accounting operations. Thomas Schmitz, who served as the interim chief accounting officer, will remain with Beacon in a senior financial role.

“We’re delighted to welcome Sam to the Beacon team,” Frank Lonegro, executive vice president and CFO at Beacon, said in a news release. “His extensive, multi-faceted background will benefit us greatly as we leverage Beacon’s organic growth, digital platform, and operational improvement strategies to drive shareholder value.”

Guzman most recently served as the vice president and chief accounting officer at Liquidity Services, a publicly-traded global solutions provider in the asset management and supply chain sector. Previously, Guzman served as the senior director – assistant corporate control for Orbital ATK and the senior associate – assistance corporate controller for Booz Allen Hamilton. The newly appointed chief accounting officer at Beacon also has held various positions early in his career at Deloitte & Touche and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board.

Herndon, Va.-based Beacon distributes roofing materials and complementary building products. The company operates over 500 branches throughout all 50 U.S. states and six Canadian provinces. The distributor was the second largest company on the 2020 ProSales 100 list.
