Gypsum Management & Supply (GMS) continued its growth strategy execution with the acquisitions of DK&B Construction Specialties EIFS division and Architectural Coatings Distributors, as well as the openings of five greenfield locations in Scarborough, Ontario; Hickory, N.C.; Wilmington, Del.; Jackson, Miss.; and Denver, Co.
“We are excited to announce the acquisitions of both the DK&B EIFS division and Architectural Coatings Distributors, and we welcome the teams to the GMS family,” John Turner, president and CEO of GMS, said in a news release. “These acquisitions, along with the establishment of five new greenfield locations, represent continued execution of our growth strategy through platform expansion and our focus on growing complementary products.”
DK&B is an EIFS/stucco operation with a single location in Omaha, Neb. With the addition of the company’s EIFS division, GMS is expandings its complementary product offering and expertise throughout the greater Nebraska market, according to the company. DK&B co-owner Chris Tierney and the entire DK&B team will continue to lead the business post-acquisition, operating in partnership with three legacy GMS Nebraska locations in Omaha, Lincoln, and Kearney under the DSI brand.
Architectural Coatings Distributors is a specialty EIFS/stucco company serving the northeast Ohio market from a single location in Cleveland, Ohio.
GMS said the acquisition expands its complementary product offerings and adds and EIFS/stucco product line to its legacy platform.
Architectural Coatings Distributor founder Brad Barr and the entire ACD team will continue to lead the business, under the local Ohio Valley Drywall Supply brand name. The location will partner with three legacy Ohio Valley Drywall Supply locations in Stow, Ohio; Trafford, Pa.; and Meadowlands, Pa. The Cleveland location markets GMS’s first location in the top 40 metropolitan statistical area.
The five GMS greenfield locations expand the distributor’s presence to provide service and product offerings in several key markets and adds a facility dedicated to driving growth in the company’s acoustical ceilings offerings in Colorado.
The Scarborough branch represents GMS’s ninth location serving southern Ontario unde the Watson Building Supplies brand name and enhances the distributor’s market density and service capabilities in the greater Toronto area.
The Hickory, N.C. greenfield will operate under the Colonial Materials brand name and will service customers in Charlotte, Winston-Salem, Boone, N.C., and the Catawba Valley area. The Wilmington, Del., facility is the 19th location under the Capitol Building Supply brand name. The Wilmington branch complements four legacy locations in the Lower Delaware Valley.
The Jackson, Miss., branch marks GMS’s entry into a top 100 metropolitan statistical area and represents the distributor’s first store location in Mississippi. The Denver, Co., facility will be focused exclusively on the growth of GMS’s ceilings business in the state after the distributor expanded its Armstrong relationship to include the Eastern Slope area of Colorado.
Tucker, Ga.-based GMS operates a network of more than 280 distribution centers across 46 U.S. states and six Canadian provinces, offering wallboard, suspended ceiling systems, and complementary construction products.
