Home Depot Names Ted Decker President and COO

The home-improvement retailer also announced several additional internal senior leadership promotions.

Home-improvement retailer The Home Depot appointed Ted Decker as the company’s president and chief operating officer. Decker has worked for the retailer for 20 years, most recently serving the past six years as the executive vice president of merchandising.

In his previous role, Decker was responsible for all store and online merchandising departments, merchandising strategy, service and vendor management, marketing, and in-store environment. In the role of COO, Decker will assume additional responsibility for global store operations, global supply chain, and outside sales and service.

“Ted is an incredible leader who has enhanced our competitiveness and interconnected strategy by blending the art and science of retail while also driving outstanding results with both our in-store and online customer experience,” Craig Menear, chairman and CEO of The Home Depot, said in a prepared statement. “We are extremely fortunate to have what I believe to be one of the finest executive leadership teams in retail. Ted’s promotion and the additional changes we are announcing will further strengthen the team’s strategic leadership and operational efficiency, while I continue to focus over the next few years on the long-term growth and strategic positioning of the company.”

In addition to Decker’s promotion, Home Depot named Ann-Marie Campble as the company’s executive vice president of U.S. stores and international operations. In the role, Campbell will assume responsibility for all operations, business functions, and strategy for Home Depot’s Canada and Mexico businesses. The presidents of The Home Depot Canada and The Home Depot Mexico will now report to Campbell, a 35-year veteran of the company.

Jeff Kinnaird has been promoted to Decker’s previous role as executive vice president of merchandising and will report to Decker. Kinnaird most recently served as the president of The Home Depot Canada and has previously held roles as the merchandising vice president of Canada and regional vice president of operations for The Home Depot Canada.

Home Depot also announced Michael Rowe has been promoted to the position of president of The Home Depot Canada. Rowe most recently served as the vice president of e-commerce, marketing, and contractor services, where he led all marketing and advertising efforts across Canada. Rowe has also previously held the title of CFO at The Home Depot Canada.

Richard McPahil, executive vice president and CFO, will assume additional responsibility for the company’s corporate strategy and strategic business development, according to a company news release. McPhail was named CFO in 2019.
