Fit and trim
Released in May as part of Trex Co.’s high-performance TrexTrim line are two new molding profiles. Garage Door Stop is designed to help seal the gap between the garage door and the door jamb, improving a home’s energy efficiency and preventing dirt, insects, wind and moisture from entering the garage. New 18-foot Brick Mould profile is suited to trim windows, entry doors and garages, attempting to enhance the curb appeal of a home.
In addition, Trex has added a matte finish that is aligned with contemporary home design trends and also more closely matches TrexTrim boards, sheets and builder profiles.
“For dealers and distributors, as well as building professionals,” says Ron Kaplan, chairman, president and CEO of Trex, “these options provide additional opportunities for profitability and design flexibility.”
Another new product that claims superiority over other materials is Boral’s TruExterior Beadboard, part of its poly-ash category of trim. Introduced in April, the trim claims superior dimensional stability, durability and performance, as well as resistance to temperature changes and moisture levels. Made of 70% recycled materials, it fends off rotting, splitting and termites, and is made with no wood fillers or PVC material.
TruExterior Beadboard is suitable for soffit application, porch-ceiling application, wainscoting and other non-structural wall and door details. The reversible product offers a traditional edge-and-center-bead profile and a v-groove appearance, and installs in courses using panels measuring 5/8 inch thick by 5¼ inches wide by 16 feet long.
Pieces interlock with a tongue-and-groove system that hides fasteners and require no end-sealing, priming or special adhesives in installation.
