Lupberger says that the Scherer Bros. pilot is Remodeling University’s first step in exploring different ways of working with dealers to help educate the remodeling industry and to offer dealers the opportunity to tap into educational resources that they might not be able to coordinate, support, or fund easily by themselves. “We are going into new areas, and there are many ways that we could customize a program for a company,” he says, such as offering discount coupons for dealers to give to customers or looking upstream to get manufacturers involved in sponsoring programs for dealers with co-op advertising.

The Scherer Bros. pilot program will be sponsored entirely by the company and offered free of charge to The Remod Squad’s customers. The events will be promoted by word of mouth through salespeople, as well as through postcards mailed to Scherer Bros.’ remodeling customer base.

One of the best benefits of an online partnership with Remodelers University, according to Klun, is that it allows for the use of multiple locations for one event. “We are going to hold the sessions from 5 to 7 p.m., and in any metropolitan area you find that the traffic is terrible. With technology, we can use different yards scattered all over town, and this will have a great positive impact on our attendance levels” because the contractors don’t have to drive as far. “Now this is really how to make technology work for you.”
