The National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA) announced today that Layman’s Lumber Guide is the newest member of the association’s Manufacturers and Services Council (MSC). The council is composed of building material manufacturers and service providers serving the LBM industry.
According to the NLBMDA, MSC members are “industry leaders” who supply products and services to lumber and building material dealers in the United States. Members of the council “share a commitment to promoting and enhancing the success of independent dealers,” according to the association.
Matt Layman, publisher of Layman’s Lumber Guide, has worked in the lumber commodities industry for nearly four decades. Layman’s Lumber Guide provides lumber market analyses and forecasts, covering Southern Yellow Pine lumber, Canadian SPF lumber, Western US lumber, and OSB. According to the NLBMDA, Layman’s Lumber Guide has been projecting when lumber and OSB prices will reverse or accelerate trends with 86% accuracy since 1992.
“My desire and goal is to show as many who want to learn exactly how to forecast the softwood lumber market with the same 86% accuracy as I do,” Layman said in a prepared statement.
A yearly membership to Layman’s Lumber Guide provides subscribers to the publication on a bi-weekly basis, including a weekly forecast, an analysis of lumber futures, a volatility index projecting ranges of price change, and a framing composite index forecasting future lumber locks.
