The Mountain States Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association (MSLBMDA) will host the Women in Industry Leadership Roundtable on Oct. 2–3 in Colorado, just before the start of the trade group’s joint fall conference on Oct. 4–5 with the Mid America Lumbermens Association.

The conference is intended for women who are current or aspiring leaders in construction supply. It will feature roundtable discussions led by Jan Flynn, a professor of organizational development/communications at Georgia College and State University, as well as extensive networking opportunities.

Attendees will seek to define today’s leadership challenges, learn keys to professional growth and development, and study the inter-relationship between management, leadership, and power.

“We’re going to use our expanding collective voice to impact change not only for women in the LBM industry, but for the industry as a whole,” said Dena Cordova-Jack, MSLBMDA’s executive vice president and the conference’s organizer.

“The purpose of coming together at the roundtable,” she added, “is not to focus on gender differences but to promote career opportunities for women in the LBM industry and to inspire current and future leaders.”

The conference continues a recent movement by LBM’s female leaders to find ways via social media and face-to-face meetings to connect with each other and promote opportunities for women in construction supply. T

The event will take place at the Omni Interlocken Hotel in Broomfield, Colo., west of Denver. Register at www.mslbmda.com.
