Home-improvement retailer Lowe’s is providing $100 million in bonuses to recognize and reward front-line associates for their contributions during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The allocation brings the company’s total COVID-19 commitment to more than $450 million, according to a news release.
“This year has been full of challenges and uncertainty, and we are tremendously grateful for the hard work, dedication, and commitment of our front-line associates,” Marvin Ellison, CEO and president of Lowe’s, said in a news release. “At Lowe’s, we believe that our homes and our communities unite us, and we thank our associates for providing our customers with essential products and services while supporting our communities and medical professionals.”
As part of the $100 million allocation, all active hourly associates in Lowe’s stores, distribution centers, and store support centers will receive bonuses ranging from $150 to $300 in mid-July, according to Lowe’s. The retailer also increased pay for full-time, part-time, and seasonal associates by $2 per hour for the month of April.
In addition to its support of its associates, Lowe’s has also provided a total of $70 million in donation commitments through grants and personal protective equipment (PPE) product donations to healthcare workers and minority-owned small businesses. Lowe’s also allocated $25 million in grants for small businesses, particularly minority-owned businesses, earlier in the pandemic.
