This January, Andersen signed Ceres’ Climate Declaration, a project by the non-profit to build business support for U.S. legislative efforts to act on climate change. The Declaration encourages businesses to adopt sustainable practices to build a healthy global economy that isn’t harmful to the environment.
According to Eleanor Fort at Ceres, Andersen joins more than 1,300 businesses in signing the declaration since its launch in April 2013. The company is the first window and door manufacture and the second in the building industry to sign.
Andersen also announced new sustainability goals designed to reduce solid waste, energy, and water use by per unit of product, by 2020.
“Buildings are responsible for a significant proportion of global greenhouse gas emissions,” Jay Lund, chairman, president, and CEO of Andersen Corporation said. “Adding our signature to this declaration affirms our responsibility and commitment to provide energy-efficient products that can be a part of the solution. Our sustainability goals go a step further to demonstrate how we put our support to action within our own operations.”
