Wood-alternative decking and railing manufacturer Trex Company broke ground on a new manufacturing facility in Frederick County, Va. The company is expanding its existing capacity with the addition of the decking plant, situated adjacent to its existing production site, to meet continued growth and projected product demand. The new facility is expected to create more than 150 jobs, according to a company news release.
“This is a very exciting time for Trex with all signs pointing to continued growth and escalating demand,” Jim Cline, president and CEO of Trex Company, said in a prepared statement. “Given our strategic focus on delivering best-in-class products and driving increased conversion from the wood decking market, expanding our production capacity and workforce was inevitable.”
The facility is part of a $200 million multi-year capital investment program that will allow Trex to increase production output for future projected growth, according to the company. Trex is in the process of installing additional capacity at its Nevada site that began coming online earlier in 2019. The additional lines are scheduled to come online by the second quarter of 2020. The Frederick County facility is projected to come online in the first quarter of 2021.
Trex products are sold through a network of building products distributors and dealers and are stocked in more than 6,700 retail locations across the world.
