Trex Company’s board of directors elected Bryan Fairbanks as the manufacturer’s next CEO and president. Fairbanks currently serves as the decking and railing company’s executive vice president and chief financial officer. Current president and CEO James Cline will retire, effective April 29, and become Trex’s next chairman of the board. At the time of Cline’s transition, current chairman Ronald Kaplan will become the vice chairman of the board.

“This represents a smooth leadership transition for the company,” Cline said in news release. “Bryan and I have worked together closely for more than four years on developing strategies to strengthen the Trex brand, consolidate our market leadership in composites, and accelerate conversion from the dominant wood market, while delivering strong financial results. I am confident that Bryan’s leadership skills and dedication to excellence will foster the company’s continued growth.”

Fairbanks joined Trex in 2004 as a director of financial planning and analysis and has held positions with increasing responsibility in the ensuing 16 years. In 2006, Fairbanks moved into operations as the senior director of supply chain and was promoted to the position of executive director of international business development in 2012. The incoming CEO and president was named vice president and CFO in 2015 and named executive vice president in 2018. Prior to joining the Trex team, Fairbanks held several finance-related positions at Ford Motor Company.

“I appreciate this vote of confidence from the Trex Board of Directors,” Fairbanks said. “It has been a rewarding experience to work with Jim and the Trex executive leadership team in implementing the company’s growth strategies, and I look forward to continuing our teamwork as I take on new responsibilities.”

Winchester, Va.-based Trex Company offers its decking and railing products through a network of building products distributors and dealers across the United States. The company’s products are sold at more than 6,700 retail locations.
