UFPI Subsidiary Acquires MSR Forest Products

Haleyville, Ala., operations to merge

1 MIN READ

Universal Forest Products Inc.announced today that one of its subsidiaries has purchased certain assets of Haleyville-Ala.-based regional roof truss and lumber supplier MSR Forest Products. The move will merge UFPI’s existing operations in Haleyville with those of MSR, as well as picking up a MSR plant in Waycross, Ga.

“MSR has been a strong company that has grown its success with great determination and skill,” said UFPI CEO Matthew J. Missad in a statement. “However, with shrinking volume in the manufactured housing arena, it was difficult to maintain efficiencies and create profitable business. This move will benefit both companies.”

The purchase, which was completed on May 16, 2012, offers UFPI enhanced capacity utilization and cuts costs. MSR managing partner Richard Roberson and principal Eddie Gamble will stay with UFPI as consultants for five years. MSR posted $10 million in revenues for 2011.
