Mead Lumber reported it has entered an agreement to acquire Heartland Building Center. Heartland operates locations in Hays, Kansas, Stockton, Kansas, and Russell, Kansas. Financial terms of the deal were not publicly disclosed.

Heartland Building Center is a full-service lumber and building materials supplier serving builders, homeowners, and commercial contractors in the greater North-Central Kansas markets.

“Mead shares our work ethic and values, our dedication to great customer service, and our commitment to employee development,” Heartland Building Center co-owner and president Verlin Pfannenstiel said in a news release. “I am very excited about Heartland Building Center’s future with Mead Lumber.”

Heartland will continue to operate under its existing brand name, according to Mead Lumber. The current Heartland management team, under the direction of general manager Derrick Bussman, will continue to lead day-to-day operations along with all current employees.

“Heartland Building Center is a great company with a tremendous reputation and long-standing history in the building community; we are excited to have them join our family,” Mead Lumber president Dave Anderson said in a prepared statement. “This acquisition is a great opportunity for our company and fits our strategic plan to expand further into Kansas.”

Columbus, Neb.-based, employee-owned Mead Lumber now operates 47 locations in Colorado, Kansas, Iowa, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Wyoming. The company operates five truss and wall manufacturing plants.
