December 27:

  • Building Products Inc. opened a new branch in Watertown, Wis.
  • S.A. Foster Lumber’s branch in Overton, Neb., was purchased by store employee Tim Smith and now operates as Foster Lumber. Story
  • The S.A. Foster Lumber branch in Sidney, Neb., began liquidation sales on Oct. 27 and now is closed. Story
  • The S.A. Foster Lumber branch in Chappell, Neb., closed in September and then was reopened as Chappell Lumber. Story
  • Chicago Lumber, Omaha, Neb., purchased the S.A. Foster Lumber branch in Kearney, Neb., and renamed it Century Lumber. Meanwhile, Heartland Lumber and Supply bought the Foster Lumber branch in Oshkosh, Neb., and new owners bought the Foster branch in Columbus, Neb., renaming it Great Plains Building Supply. Story

  • Busy Beaver, based in Pittsburgh, announced it will open five new home improvement centers in 2018. The five include a store opening in Grove City, Pa., in March and one in Greenville, Pa., in May. Announcement

  • Boise Cascade will open a new distribution center in Pontoon Beach, Ill., on Nov. 15. It will serve the St. Louis metro and surrounding areas.

  • The USG Corporation is expanding and improving manufacturing capabilities at its Jacksonville, Fla., plant.
  • Green’s Eco Build & Design is now Green’s Design & Supply, and has relocated within Chattanooga, Tenn.
  • A performance agreement with McCoy’s Building Supply for a proposed store in Bay City was approved by the Bay City Community Development Corporation in Bay City, Texas.

November 1:

  • The Andersen Corporation announced the acquisition of Fenêtres MQ Inc., a luxury window and door manufacturer headquartered in Sainte-Agathe, Quebec, Canada with manufacturing locations in Canada and Italy.
  • Dazey’s Supply, based in Redway, Calif., will take over Hubbard’s Hardware on Jan. 2
  • Townsend Building Supply in Dothan, Ala., relocated within Dothan last month.

October 30:

  • Barton Supply in Colorado Springs, Colo., will move to a new at 2290 Waynoka Rd, off Powers Blvd, between Constitution and Palmer Park.

  • JELD-WEN acquired the Domoferm Group of companies, a European provider of steel doors, steel door frames, and fire doors for commercial and residential markets. Domoferm is based in Gänserndorf, Austria, with employees at four manufacturing sites in Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic.
  • The Atlas Roofing Corporation bought Versa-Tech located in Fredericktown, Mo.

  • 84 Lumber opened a new location in San Antonio, Texas.

  • Wholesale Millwork opened a new distribution location in Mays Landing, N.J.
  • Roseburg Resources bought approximately 158,000 acres of investment-grade timberland in the southeastern United States from Forest Investment Associates.
  • MiTek announced it has completed a North American sales and distribution agreement with OZCO Building Products.
